While many enjoy the laid-back lifestyle and beautiful scenery, others have expressed concerns about safety and limited job opportunities. Some reviewers also point out the lack of diversity and slow pace of the city. For instance, user "Jackie" shares, "The pros of living in Port Richey are the beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere. However, the cons include limited job options and a high crime rate in certain areas." Similarly, user "Mike" writes, "The city has potential, but it's not as developed as other places in Florida. There are some nice neighborhoods, but overall, it's not very diverse and can get boring." On the other hand, user "Rachel" has a more positive outlook, stating, "I love living in Port Richey. The cost of living is affordable, and the people are friendly. It's a great place to raise a family." Lastly, user "Karen" mentions the charm of the city, stating, "Port Richey has a small-town feel that I love. It's a great place to retire and enjoy the scenic views. However, there's not much to do for young people." Overall, it seems that while Port Richey may have its perks, it may not be the ideal place for everyone.

You will melt - 12/21/2015
It's Florida, so yeah, it's hot. Way too hot. Why is this place populated? Keep an extra pair of clothes in your car because by the time you get there from your front door you'll be sweaty and need to change.

I'm from New Hampshire and used to be tan. Since moving to Florida I've never been whiter. I suspect my chance of contracting melanoma is virtually non-existant here. I only do yard work in December/January at night during cold fronts. So the exterior of my home is becoming a bit unruly. I'm writing this in December and my AC is currently on. Cooling my house to 75. What?!

Water is ridiculously priced. I guess that's unrelated to Climate, but thought I'd mention it. People here must have a broken internal thermometer in their brain or something. They get cold below 70 degrees. My AC unit crapped out (running constantly for three years will do that I suppose) and the repair man said I should keep my house at 80. LOL gg.

As I said, I'm from NH Read More

Depends on what your comparing it to - 11/27/2012
Port Richey is only 2.7 square miles, so the majority of us who have a Port Richey address don't actually live in PR. I have been hear over a year now and still don't know where the city begins and ends (except for when I see a sign). It's kind of just swallowed up by New Port Richey. Anyway. Lots of people live here. Tons of kids and schools. On the other hand there is nothing to do here as far as attractions go. BUT being as this is Florida you don't have to go far to find things to do. Pasco Co. sits right on top of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties - and serves as the "flight" area for those who are looking for a less populated and inexpensive place to live. If you are considering moving to the area it would helpful to do some exploring first if you don't know somebody who lives here that can guide you. This really is a nice place to live despite all of its issues (just read the NPR comments - they all have a point but are a bit dramatic at times). There are a lot of Read More

Not so good - 7/7/2010
The area has become very run down in the last few years. Many properties are empty, house prices falling. Crime and drugs are on the rise. Not the best of places to be living at the Read More

There must be a lot of unreported crime in this area. My husband and I work in retail and neither one of us have a day go by without finding stolen merchandise. While it could be worse, this area is having a drug epidemic, which mostly goes unreported because nobody wants to be the one calling the drug users and dealers out. While it's mostly pills and prescription drugs that are being widely dealt in the area, it is still a concern for Read More
